ABOUT

What is AirportsMadeSimple? It started out as a personal tool so a husband and wife from Texas could easily locate physical airport addresses when they were traveling.

We found each airport’s website was very different, and while we’re sure a tarmac update might thrill some, to us, the average traveler, we just wanted a simple, standardized way to find the physical address. So, we launched this website.

AirportsMadeSimpleprovides physical airport addresses for your GPS navigation tools and smartphones.  All airport addresses have been verified through Google Maps and Yahoo! Driving Directions.

We’re also an aggregator for some of the best travel tips on the web.  Our sources include: individual blogs, pilots, seasoned travelers, flight attendants, celebrities, travel sites, news affiliates, you name it!

  13. AMS –
No problem at all! Thanks for considering adding LIR (Liberia, Costa Rica) to your site – we check back often so we look forward to its addition in March (or whenever you have a chance to add it). Hope your travels were great ones!
    Pura vida from CostaRicaTravelBlog.com!

    • Hi there! Just wanted you to know that we posted LIR today. I have a call in to a travel agent there and they are still working on locating the actual GPS/physical address and/or latitude/longitude coordinates for the airport. From what I can gather (and you can feel free to comment), it seems most people said it was a no-brainer from the city of Liberia. So let me know what you think or if you have anything else to add. Thanks! :)

      • AirportsMadeSimple –
That’s great! We will add a link on our airport-related post to your new addition.
We 100% agree that the LIR airport is a no-brainer from Liberia. Most people know where the Burger King is, which is located at a popular corner where the road from San Jose and the road heading out towards the northern Pacific coast meet. If one is travelling from the coast towards Liberia (on hwy #21), the airport would be on the left-hand side (it is nearly impossible to miss). If one is travelling from the town of Liberia towards the airport (and/or coming from the direction of San Jose), they would turn left at the intersection with the Burger King on the corner (onto hwy #21) and then drive for about 7-8 minutes. A number of vehicle rental agencies are found along the road/highway. Eventually there will be a long road to the right which is the entrance to the airport (even from this direction the airport would be hard to miss, however if in doubt, there is a sign on the corner).
Two other pieces of advice for your readers:
        1. Since dining options within the airport itself are limited, travellers can grab a quick bite at the Burger King (or else at the Subway on hwy #21 just down from the Burger King for a healthier option) prior to checking in.
        2. At the moment, parking at the LIR airport is free (whereas parking is available for purchase at the SJO airport)
        3. Since the LIR airport is significantly smaller than the SJO airport, we typically recommend that travellers only need to arrive between 1.5-2.5 hours prior to their international flight departure (depending on the time of year of travel). For travel from the SJO airport, we typically recommend that travellers arrive 2-3 hours prior to their international flight departure.
As always, http://www.CostaRicaTravelBlog.com is here to help if you have other questions! :)
        Pura vida!

  14. Thank you for stopping by my blog! I am a frequent traveler and am so happy to know your site exists.

      • just want to know – is your site actually a public service/ non-profit or a commercial-oriented? and do you have some kind of collaborations with many airports in the US?
        thanks for following my blog!

        • Hi GalOntrip! I think it’s very original what you and your classmates did. It shows initiative while making writing fun. Keep up the god work! As to your questions, we have started this blog to help real people in real travel situations navigate airports better by offering them the physical addresses of the top U.S. Airports for their smartphone or GPS systems. Currently, we don’t charge for this service. We also like to keep things funny and/or offer travel/airport entertainment to those who love travel, airplanes/airlines/airports, and might need a laugh or two. So we try to be positive and keep the energy light. Have a great day!

          • thanks! that’s a very nice of you and your team doing so in your blog. may the best of luck be with you!

            • The same to you! The format of your blog is very nice. :)

  17. Thanks for stopping by! The best airport I’ve been to? It’d have to be Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN). I wouldn’t mind another layover in that airport :-)

    • Hi Kallistrates! Thanks for the comment about BCN! I will add it to the list and then you can add anything you want to say as a comment (if you’d like) to help any readers flying through there! Have a wonderful 2013. Cheers, AMS

    • Hi Kallistrates! Just wanted to let you know I haven’t forgotten about BCN. It’s still on my list! :)

    • Hi there, Kallistrates! Just wanted to let you know I’ve added BCN to the list and it will go live on 3/31/13. Happy Flying! Thanks for the tip – please feel free to offer any tips for anyone going through there. :)

  83. Heya i am for the first time here. I found this board and I find It really useful & it helped me out a lot. I hope to give something back and aid others like you helped me.

  84. Thanks for visiting thefirstgates and liking a post. We’ll be flying later this summer so I will certainly check back.

    • Hi Morgan and thanks for stopping by! Will check back with you periodically, too! Have a great week. Cheers, AMS

  85. Needed to post you this little bit of word to finally say thanks a lot yet again regarding the remarkable opinions you have shared on this page. This is simply seriously generous of people like you to make freely precisely what a lot of folks would have advertised as an e book to earn some money on their own, especially considering that you could possibly have done it if you ever desired. The thoughts additionally acted like the great way to realize that most people have the same zeal really like my very own to learn a little more with reference to this issue. I am certain there are some more enjoyable moments up front for folks who discover your blog.

  86. This is so great! WOW. My husband travels tons – I’m certain he can gain from this site. Thanks so much for visiting my blog the other day!

    • Hi Gretchen! Thanks for stopping by and thanks for the kind words! It really made my day. (It’s been a rough day – now, not so much!) :) Thanks again, and I’ll stop by again soon. Cheers, D

  87. I third the nomination for the Versatile Blogger Award. Airports Made Simple. Cause your blog makes air travel simple and at times really funny to read about. Hey, maybe you forgot the acceptance rules. So just in case, and something to read while you’re waiting in the terminal, here is a link to the information: http://canoecommunications.wordpress.com/2012/06/15/and-the-nominees-are/

    • Thank you so much!! That is so kind of you! I’ve been running around the country – again – and should be home now a week or so. I will read and properly reply by Monday! Thanks again. You are too kind. Cheers, AMS

  88. Thanks for Liking our Blog! In turn I have Liked yours. Best of Luck with your ‘conversation’! I’ll keep you posted if I discover anything interesting or helpful while traveling through my local airports = LAX, SNA, ONT, etc. (Southern California).

    • That would be great! I will add SNA and ONT in the next week or so. :) Thanks again for stopping and I’ll check in now and again (when I’m not flying!). Cheers!

      • I think a notable aspect of SNA (John Wayne Orange County Airport) is their new Terminal – in my opinion they did a really nice job of matching the existing building, i.e., architecture, decor, etc. I doubt a new-comer to SNA would be able to tell that Terminal C is brand new!
Another point is Security – it’s well organized and it always goes quickly (unlike some other airports I’ve experienced…!).
        Happy Trails,
        Robin
        Essence Entertainment

        • Thanks for your note about SNA! I will add it as an airport, and copy and paste your comments, above, into the comments section. It will go live on June 19th. Thanks again! Cheers, AMS

Since you support Puppies Behind Bars, I’m wondering if you know of the new ‘app’ that tells people traveling with service dogs where ‘relieving areas’ are in major airports:
“Where to Go: a directory of airport animal relief areas.”
It may be downloaded at: http://www.workinglikedogs.com.

  125. Hi there,

I know somebody else has already beat me to it, but I swear I meant to send this out sooner. I received the Versatile Blogger Award and wanted to nominate you for the same. First, because you have a great blog and we can all use a little help when it comes to airports. And second (and to me more important), because you love dogs! :-)

I am sure you already know the rules for the award (if not, please visit http://loungelassie.wordpress.com). There are not too many rules, although there weren’t any explicit rules about these rules, if you already have an award. Anyway, I hope to contribute a little more traffic to your site.

    Best,

    Madeleine and Gingersnap! (the dogs)
    and Linda (Mama L.)

    • Thx loungelassies! We’re crazy about dogs here, too. Have a wonderful day.

  126. Greetings! Because I love your blog so much and consider you an important part of my blogging life, I have selected you to receive the SunShine Award. Please check out my blog at http://talesandtravelsofthetinman.wordpress.com/2012/04/16/the-sunshine-award/ to see the announcement.

  132. Do you think you might extend your lists/ reviews to other international airports around the globe ? … or are these just airports you’ve been to?

Cool blog (especially if you fly to the USA a lot) … I have quite a few blog posts about airports and our flying adventures… here are two weird instances from just one flight (A’dam to Portugal)…

    http://kiwidutch.wordpress.com/2010/09/10/new-107/

    http://kiwidutch.wordpress.com/2010/09/09/new-106/

    • Hi there Kiwidutch! Thanks for stopping by! I’m still catching up from the weekend. I would really LOVE to include international airports, but since I’m in the U.S., my focus will be to start here. I’d love to have others traveling through international airports to add their thoughts/information about a particular airport! It would be great, and I’d be glad to link back to your blog. I will check out your blog as well! As far as how we gather the information, go to our About/Contact page, and I hope that helps. Have a great evening! And if you’d like to add something re: international airports, please just let us know!

    • Oh my! You are so kind. Thank you very much. What a pleasant surprise. I read your posts- are there rules I should know to participate?

      • My pleasure. You have good blog. Re your question, there are rules, you can find them here http://versatilebloggeraward.wordpress.com/vba-rules/ but nobody seems to follow them so just do what feel like. It’s just a bit of fun and a nice way to give a ‘shout-out’ to blogs you enjoy.

  146. What an interesting concept! As the brat of two flight attendants I’ve spent my fair share in the world’s airports (flying standby my entire life = more time in the airport than on the plane). Can’t wait to read more! :)

    • Thanks so much, Samshine20! We’re working on gathering a comprehensive list. Next one is LAX, then we have votes from readers to determine the next one. Hope to hear from you again! Feel free to share any tips/advice, etc…thanks again for stopping!

  147. please do a section of Charles de Gaulle – no one around ever to help you -try finding a bus stop or transfer is a nightmare!! best of luck!

    • Hi Milanto46! I’ve only been there once…in 2004! So, would have to say I’m a little rusty – anyone? anyone? Do we have anyone who’s flown through here recently?

      • Hi, just started my blog with travel reports to France, and eventually looking to post info for travel in France (based on personal experience). Would be happy to compile info on CDG if you like. I’ve got the detaxe process in Terminal 1 down pat :)

        • Hi Vvienl! That would be great! We haven’t got around to Europe yet, but that would be just wonderful – I’ve had at least one request for it already. Please feel free! I’ll add an “international airport” page to the first page, with you as contributor. :) Thanks!

          • Will get started on that right after I finish the travel report I’m in the middle of. I’ll be in touch.

            • Hi Vivien – no worries! We’ve got a lot of info to gather, but would love any help from you we can get! No rush…and, thanks! :)
